Financial and business services for economic empowerment of women

As part of DFID's Access to Finance Programme, WLC is providing strategic direction to a project that is providing access to formal financial services to 10,000 women, mainly from the disadvantaged groups through five newly established branches in the hill districts of Rukum, Rolpa and Salyan (mid-western development region).

A more focused objective of the project is to help, at least, 5,000 women graduate from being sustainable farmers to successful entrepreneurs by providing a range of empowerment initiatives supplemented by credit and saving schemes.

WLC is supporting Mahila Sahayatra Microfinance Bank to manage this project as well as to strengthen its capacity both in terms of expansion of its services and management.
